About RAP Plan Calculator
See what the Repayment Assistance Plan would cost you, in plain words, with RAP Plan Calculator.
Our work
We build a quick calculator from the published RAP rules. Type in your income and dependents, plus how you file. Your monthly bill shows up, along with the reason for it. RAP gets compared with IBR and the other plans as well.
What we aren't
We're not a lender. We're not a loan servicer. We're not an adviser. We aren't the Department of Education of the U.S. The figure you get is an estimate, not a quote from a servicer. Your own servicer decides what you really pay.
Rules our calculator follows
- July 1, 2026RAP opened
- Between 1% and 10%. of your AGI
- A $10. minimum each month
- A $50. monthly discount for each dependent
RAP relies on your AGI band and your dependents alone. Each band appears in the RAP payment table. IBR treats income differently, since it leaves alone income up to 150% of the poverty line from HHS. That is why the IBR calculator asks you for the number of people in your family.
The references we review
- Federal Student Aid: repayment plans based on income
- Federal Student Aid: RAP definitions
- Poverty guidelines from HHS (used for IBR, PAYE and ICR)
- Loan servicers, Federal Student Aid
Whenever the rules change, we review these references and correct mistakes quickly. See how we do it in our editorial policy.
